FAQ

Questions patients ask.

Is Aegis part of the hospital?

No. Aegis is an independent medical referral team with access to Shanghai's Grade 3A public hospitals, the highest tier in China's hospital rating system. Hospitals named on this site, such as Tongji Hospital, are examples. Your care is provided and billed by the hospital, not by us.

Is the first consultation really free?

Yes, with no obligation. Any coordination fee is explained in writing before you commit.

Do you add a markup to hospital fees?

No. Hospital fees are paid directly to the hospital at its published rates.

Will my insurance cover treatment?

It depends on your policy. Some insurers have direct billing with the hospital, and we help you check.

Is a specialist review a promise of treatment?

No. Treatment is decided after an in-person examination.

How soon can I be seen?

It depends on the department and your case. We tell you realistic timing after review.

What should I send?

Recent scans as DICOM, reports, pathology, and your medication list, from the last 3 to 6 months.

Who sees my records?

Only your case manager and the reviewing specialist. Records are handled under China's Personal Information Protection Law.

Can a family member come?

Yes, usually. Ask us about invitation letters.
